With an annual capacity of over 28 million sq. m. of floor and wall ceramic and porcelain tiles, KAI is one of the largest manufacturers of ceramic tiles and glazed and unglazed porcelain tiles not only in Bulgaria, but also on the Balkan Peninsula.
The Group constitutes of two production units. The first factory is Khan Asparuh and is located in the town of Isperih and the second factory, called Khan Omurtag, is situated in the city of Shumen- both production units have been manufacturing ceramic products, tiles, decorative elements since their establishment in the 1970s.
Khan Asparuh acquires Khan Omurtag in 2004 and the implementation of an ambitious project for modernization and expansion of the two factories begins. A series of investment projects and programs lead to remarkable increase in production capacity and a 24hrs production cycle, reaching an installed capacity of approximately 28million sq.m per annum. As a result, KAI has become not only into a well-established market leader in Bulgaria, but also is one of the leaders in the ceramic industry in Europe.
Since 12th of May 2015, KAI is an official member of Mohawk Industries. Mohawk is tile manufacturer number one in the world, with overall production capacity of over 250 million sq.m. selling to markets like the USA, Italy, Spain, Russia, Mexico, China and many others. The American company also owns the international well-known ceramic brand Marazzi.
The product range covers a wide variety of ceramic tiles, glazed and unglazed porcelain tiles and decorative elements in various sizes and textures. In order to meet customers’ expectations for quality and modern design and reach every home, KAI works closely with specialized designer studios in Spain and Italy.
As a result KAI aims to design and manufacture its products according to the latest trends in formats and interior design. The range covers single-fired wall tiles with sizes 15x15, 20x20, 20x25, 20x30, 25x33, and 25x40;20x50; 25x50 33x50; floor tiles with sizes 33.3x33.3, 34x34,and 30x30; glazed, unglazed, and dry application porcelain tiles with sizes 16.5x33.3, 33.3x33.3 , 40x40, 45x45, 50x50, 18.7x46.7,10x60,15x60,30x60.
By implementing leading technologies like digital printing, water jet and diamond cutting, triple firing with platinum and vetrose, polished, rectified and calibrated porcelain tiles, KAI Group creates products, which are designed to bring to every home distinctive delicacy, individual style, and sophistication.
KAI exports more than half of its production to over 25 countries in Europe and throughout the world. The group has established subsidiaries in Bucharest, Romania (KAI Ceramics) and Thessaloniki, Greece (KAI Greece).The factory supports excellent business relations with almost all countries within the European Union. Our products are well known in Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Benelux, Scandinavia, as well as in Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Croatia.
The main obligation of the factory management is to monitor the global technology developments and to invest in modern equipment.
Selected machines and manufacturing facilities follow the highest developments in the field of technology presented by the Italian company SACMI Imola SC, which is our main supplier, along with the other two leading companies – Gruppo TecnoFerrari and Grupo System.
These three companies are considered to be the undoubted world leaders in the production of manufacturing equipment for the ceramic industry.
The latest generation of digital machines for coating and decorating allows the development of unique products that match the highest requirements in quality and design.
By implementing new technologies, we are able to achieve the unique texture of natural materials, while each tile has different non repeated design. This gives a feeling of natural stone and wood and the interior seems effortless and complete.

Khan Asparuh AD and Khan Omurtag AD are Bulgarian manufacturers of wall and floor ceramics that are certified under ISO-9001 and the production process complies with the high requirements of the European standard EN 14 411.
