How to use psychology of colors when designing your kitchen?

Changing particular elements in the kitchen, dining room or the bedroom, can also significantly change the way we are influenced by the interior when entering any of those rooms. It is not about changing the furniture or the lightning- it is about changing the color variations by simply changing the flooring with ceramic tiles or porcelain in particular colors.

Strong colors can add more live and energy in the kitchen and the less contrast there is in the room, the more spacios it feels and calming it is.

Psychology of colors in the interior design.

What is your favorite color? If you, for instance, like red blue or green, can you imagine your living space being decorated in them? Not every color is suitable for your interior, even if it is a favorite of yours. Single shades correlate to different emotions and feelings. Here is a brief description of some basic correlations:

-       Red is related to passion and danger, probably because of its direct association with blood and fire.

-       Green is related to calmness and fulfillment. This color is highly spread in nature and is often used in bedroom and living room interiors.

-       Yellow is related to the Sun and energy. It is very catchy to the eyes and is popular choice in advertising.

-       Orange is related to warmth and stability. Its use in the bedroom interior is not recommended due to its intensity.

-       Brown is related to safety and prestige- commonly used in living room interiors.

Which colors are suitable for the kitchen?

Which color provokes creativity? Vivid colors like yellow stimulate our intellectual energy and put us in creative mood. This would certainly help during the cooking process. Additionally, this color will fill you with energy from the very beginning of the day, while having your breakfast.

Other suitable colors are orange and light blue which combine well with white kitchen furniture and ceilings.

Colors which make the kitchen look more spacious.

Colors influence not only our mood but also our senses for depth and scale. A room painted in dark shades often look smaller than a room with the same size but painted in lighter shades.

Black, dark brown and dark greys are not suitable for small spaces like the kitchen. The lighter the color scheme is, the more spacious the room looks. Be careful with contrasting wall and floor colors too- the bigger the contrast, the smaller the room- sense wise. Hence, if your walls are painted in lighter colors, make sure your floor or porcelain tiles are also chosen in lighter shades.

Using psychology for better choice of kitchen colors.

-       Red stimulated the appetite. To insert this color in your room decoration, you could choose ceramic wall tiles in red shades and place them above and under the upper kitchen cabinets.  If you prefer more muted effect, simply pick wall tiles with more moderate red variations.

-       Cold colors like blue and green are more appropriate for warmer countries. Relying on the psychological illusion, you will not fee as hot during the summer if you decide on decorating in the kitchen in those colder shades. This effect can be achieved simply by placing porcelain or floor tiles in colder shades on your kitchen floor.

-       During the winter warmer colors are more suitable for the kitchen- red, orange and yellow. Ceramic tiles or porcelain in warmer colors will bring coziness to the kitchen. The later the perfect choice when the room is place on the north side of the building.

If the kitchen is modern and full of many metallic elements- use brown to warm up the interior. You can achieve this by placing wood design porcelain on the floor or tiles designs resembling natural marble, travertine and granite.
